Jack is an experienced litigation solicitor, having qualified in 2018. Jack specialises in commercial litigation, civil fraud and insolvency and is also an expert in property litigation disputes.

Jack is regularly instructed in high-value complex litigation, often with a foreign element and is an expert in cross-border disputes.

In his commercial litigation practice, Jack provides expert advice in relation to commercial contract disputes, breach of warranty claims, company disputes, including partnerships and shareholder disputes as well as advising shareholders in relation to derivative claims and claims for unfair prejudice and claims relating to breaches of directors’ duties.

Jack is an expert in civil fraud and is regularly instructed by victims of fraud to recover monies, which often have been moved overseas. This often includes claims for deceit, fraudulent misrepresentation and conspiracy. Jack is adept at utilising the full range of interim remedies available to protect and recover assets, including freezing injunctions and disclosure orders as well as asset tracing and recovery.

Jack is often instructed in insolvency and bankruptcy cases and provides expert advice to directors and insolvency practitioners in relation to claims for breach of fiduciary duties, misfeasance and wrongful / fraudulent trading as well as preparing and responding to bankruptcy / winding-up petitions and statutory demands, including applications to set aside or to injunct the presentation of a winding-up petition.

Jack also maintains a busy commercial property litigation caseload, advising on business lease renewals and termination as well as claims for forfeiture and relief from forfeiture and claims for rent arrears, dilapidations and commercial rent reviews. Jack is also able to advise in relation to boundary disputes and breach of covenant claims.

Jack enjoys dual-citizenship courtesy of his Kiwi mother, although has yet to make the most of his NZ passport, having only visited once in his adult life. Outside of work, Jack is a keen sports enthusiast. Despite now being undeniably into his 30’s, he insists on playing football most weekends and continues to cycle into work.

Recent experience includes:

  • Acted for a Turkish billionaire who had been defrauded of approximately £300,000 through a sophisticated multi-jurisdictional fraud scheme. Successfully obtained worldwide freezing injunctions against multiple defendants’ assets in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Instructed in relation to a €3m multi-jurisdictional share dispute, including claims for a declaration of trust and/or breach of contract / express trust. Advising as to service of proceedings outside of the jurisdiction.
  • Successfully obtained an urgent injunction restraining the presentation of a winding-up petition after the client was served with a statutory demand following an unlawful rescission of a property purchase contract.
  • Acted for a client who had purchased a property at auction. The auction contract contained very onerous special conditions which the seller sought to exploit, bringing forward completion unreasonably and serving a notice to complete. Successfully argued that the seller’s notice to complete was invalid.
  • Advised on a £5 million claim involving two former directors and shareholders against the former directors of a company in administration. The claim was complex and involved reflective loss and allegations of misfeasance and breach of directors’ duties.
  • Recovered over £250,000 for a director in a claim for breach of contract, misrepresentation, and breach of directors’ duties relating to a director’s loan agreement.
  • Successfully recovered possession of a commercial premises following forfeiture for rent arrears, providing guidance on waiver of forfeiture, relief from forfeiture, and the Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Act 2022.
