Company & Commercial Partner
Company & Commercial Partner
We have had an exciting opportunity for an experienced company commercial senior solicitor or partner, looking to play a key role in the firm’s further development, to join our very successful and friendly team in Holborn.
What makes this role different is that you will be developing a new company commercial practice area to service our existing SME clients and develop a brand-new client base in this area. You will have the support of your partners and colleagues in other departments working closely with an employment partner and senior restructuring solicitor with paralegal support.
Business Development Support
Inviting clients and referrers will give you an opportunity to develop work and raise your profile. Your expense account will also provide you with the opportunity to develop business-partnering relationships with both clients and referrers. We even have our own monthly Summit Law Networking Quorum which takes place in Holborn on the second Tuesday of every month, which all fee earning members of the team are encouraged to attend.
Background
Summit Law has long-established relationships with a range of intermediaries, referrers and repeat clients.
Our team advises high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and SME’s. Traditionally Summit Law has been renowned for its restructuring and insolvency law know-how and now wishes to expand by making lateral hires. The latter includes an employment lawyer partner who joins the firm soon. There are also other recent additions to our legal team with niche expertise and specialisations.
Summit Law is conveniently placed to offer a fast and efficient service to a home grown and international client base. We have connections in the Middle and Far East, Spain, and South America which we are keen to develop.
One of our partners also sits as a board member on ILAS, the International Lawyers and Accountancy Solutions network who meet twice yearly in Europe to discuss growing trends and developments in legal and accountancy matters.
About You
You must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially astute, and enthusiastic about business development. You will be given the support needed to conduct your work efficiently as well as being encouraged to network and will have experienced partners to help mentor you.
You will have gained experience providing advice on contractual requirements, including long-term supply agreements, distribution agreements, business sales, acquisitions and other company matters, including shareholders’ agreements, company secretarial matters and intellectual property.
We are very much looking for team players with a strong client focussed approach so cultural fit is key to Summit Law’s philosophy. Accordingly, what is paramount is that you enjoy working with colleagues who are like-minded and where you enjoy the friendly, collegiate, and supportive environment.
As well as being able to use document management and time recording systems the successful candidate will also have excellent communication and organisational skills. Whilst we also rate common sense highly, we need a lawyer who is hands-on and able to work autonomously with no supervision.
You will be expected to be commercially astute and have experience developing a company and commercial department.
Experience of developing a department (though not necessarily from scratch) is essential.
The Opportunity
The salary on offer will be competitive, we offer 25 days a year of annual leave plus a day off for your birthday! We provide laptops so can offer a hybrid working environment with only 2 days a week expected in the office.
At Summit Law we have always looked to do things a little differently. For example, way before the pandemic we had already introduced a dress down policy every day so unless you are seeing new clients or are in court, there is no need to wear a business suit. After all who likes going to the dry cleaners.
We are proud of our Team Member Award to reward hard work where team members have gone the extra mile. We also have quarterly team bonding and collaboration lunches in Covent Garden.
About the Firm
Summit Law is a Law Society Lexcel accredited law firm formed by Jeremy Boyle over 14 years ago with a view to providing specialist contentious insolvency advice. Since then, we have carefully earmarked and grown other areas of practice which complement the insolvency related work for which we are recognised.
We have a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice rooted in our belief that clients are our major asset and client care is paramount. Our global reach via ILAS and cross-border ‘know how’ ensures that we are well-placed to assist with matters in Europe and further afield alike.
We have recently moved premises into modern serviced offices in close proximity to Royal Courts of Justice and most barrister’s chambers.
We champion change and promote progress to make business work better for people. Summit Law has embedded a range of team initiatives to create an environment in which our team can flourish. We operate an agile working scheme, which offers our employees flexibility in terms of where, and how, they work. The latter is supported by our Cloud-based IT system which means you can work on your smart phone or tablet, from anywhere in the world utilising our Cloud based technology and Microsoft 365.
